The Barrie Police Service received multiple tips on the identity of a male wanted in relation to a theft that occurred at Georgian College, which resulted in fraudulent transactions on the victims debit card.
A 19-year-old Meaford man has been arrested and charged with; Theft and Fraud Under $5000 and two counts of Breach Probation. The male is scheduled to appear in a bail court in Barrie.

The Barrie Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance to identify a suspect responsible for a theft that occurred at Georgian College, in the City of Barrie, on Tuesday February 14, just after 5:00 p.m.
The victim had been at the Georgian College library when his backpack was stolen; which contained personal items including a bank card. Shortly after the theft the victims’ bank card was utilized within the college and a convenience store. Further investigation led police to the nearby convenience store, which provided video surveillance of a male believed to be in possession of the stolen bank card.
The investigation is ongoing
The suspect is described as;
- Male, White
- 18 to 20 years
- Dark hair
- Wearing a red baseball hat, black jacket, and black shoes, carrying a red backpack.
