The Barrie Police Homicide Unit continues to investigate the double homicide on William Street, in the City of Barrie. The Forensic Identification Unit spent the better part of the weekend processing the scenes on William Street and Marcus Street.  Both scenes have since been released and residents in the attached units have returned.

On Monday, February 13th, 2017 the forensic post-mortems of the two deceased males were completed. The two males have been identified as 51-year-old James Pasowisty and his 19-year-old son Nickolas Pasowisty of Barrie.

The forensic post-mortem exam has determined that both James and Nickolas Pasowisty died as a result of multiple stab wounds.

Police would like to remind the public that a court imposed publication ban remains in effect.

The accused male, 24-year-old Dyrrin Daley of Barrie, is due to re-appear in court on Thursday, February 16th, 2017 to answer to the two charges of First Degree Murder.


UPDATE: Thursday, February 9th, 2017 @ 13:00pm

Barrie Police Service has charged a 24-year-old Barrie male with two counts of 1st degree murder in relation to the double homicide investigation after two males were found deceased at a William Street address yesterday. He will be appearing in afternoon bail court on Thursday, February 9th, 2017.

The two victims, a 51-year-old and 19-year-old father and son, have been transported to Ontario’s Center for Forensic Science (CFS) in Toronto. Forensic postmortems are scheduled for Friday where cause of death will be determined.

Investigators believe the victims and accused were known to each other and police are not looking for any further suspects.

The Barrie Police Forensic Identification Unit will continue processing both scenes on William Street and Marcus Street throughout the next few days.  The Unmanned Arial Vehicle (UAV) may be utilized throughout the investigation for aerial scene reconstruction.  Canvassing will also continue through the rest of the week.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area between 2:30am and 3:30am or who may have video surveillance of the area to please contact Barrie Police Service at 705-725-7025 ext. 2160.

UPDATE: Wednesday, February 8th, 2017 @3:15pm

The investigation into the double homicide that occurred on Williams Street this morning led investigators to a residence on Marcus Street, in the City of Barrie.  Police arrested one 24-year-old male who resides at the address and has brought him to the Barrie Police Service for interviews by investigators.  The investigation is still active and charges have not been determined at this time.  Police are still looking to locate potentially involved parties to the incident.

Forensic postmortems will be conducted on the two deceased males, a 51-year-old and 19-year-old father and son, later this week.

Barrie Police Service is currently investigating a double homicide that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, February 8th, 2017 at a residence on William Street, in the City of Barrie.  Two male residents were found deceased with obvious signs of trauma after police received two 911 calls from the residence at 3:20am. Police are still in the early stages of the investigation and are currently searching for the suspect or suspects involved.

Investigators are canvassing the neighborhood around William Street, Burton Avenue and Bayview Drive.  They are asking anyone who was in the area between 2:30am and 3:30am or who may have video surveillance of the area to please contact Barrie Police Service at 705-725-7025 ext. 2160.

On Wednesday, February 8th, 2017 at 3:20am Barrie Police Service received a call to an address on William Street, in the City of Barrie.  Police attended address and located two deceased male parties with obvious signs of trauma.

At this time, police are in the preliminary stages of their investigation. The victims identification will not be released until next of kin is notified.
