ARRESTED: Two Charged for Two Robberies at Mac's

On Sunday, May 7th, 2017 at 1:45am Police attended the Mac's Convenience store located at 201 Hurst Drive, in the City of Barrie, after receiving a panic alarm. The Barrie Police K9 Unit attended and with the assistance of tactical officers initiated a track from the store.  The quick call from store staff, rapid response of officers and keen nose of PSD Serge, evidence belonging to the suspects was collected.  The track lead officers right to the door of the two suspect, a short distance away, just off Coxmill Road. 

Investigators linked the most recent robbery to the one from Wednesday, April 5th, 2017 and the two males arrested were charged accordingly.

A 13-year-old Barrie male has been charged with:

  • Robbery with a Weapon x 2
  • Disguise with Intent x 2
  • Breach of Recognizance 
  • Breach of Probation x 6  

A second 13-year-old Barrie male has been charged with:

  • Robbery with a Weapon x 2
  • Disguise with Intent x 2

Both males were held at the Barrie Police Service overnight for a bail hearing Monday.

Barrie Police Service Criminal Investigations Division is investigating a robbery that took place overnight after a male and female demanded money and cigarettes from a local convenience store.

On Wednesday April 5th, 2017 at 10:40pm a male and female entered the Mac’s Convenience store located at 201 Hurst Drive, in the City of Barrie.  Both suspects approached the counter, each armed with a knife and demanded the store employee turnover money from the cash register. The employee complied with the demand and upon collecting the money the suspects went to the cigarettes and piled an unknown quantity into a grey grocery bag. The suspects fled the store on foot and were last seen running southbound through the parking lot towards the ravine behind the plaza.

The employee did not sustain any physical injuries as a result of the incident.

We would like to remind citizens to cooperate with suspects should they find themselves the victim of robbery. Try to get the best description possible and call 9-1-1 immediately. Always be aware of suspicious people and/or vehicles and report them to police.

Suspect #1 Description:

  • Male, white
  • 5'5", thin build
  • Wearing a blue Adidas t-shirt with white stripes down the side, black pants, grey shoes, and a cover over his head

Suspect #2 Description:

  • Female, white
  • 5'0", very thin build
  • Wearing a black hoodie, black tights, with a scarf covering his face
