Credit Card Fraudster Left Evidence Behind
April 3rd, 2017 - Police & the Community

Police are investigating an attempt fraud that occurred on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Bed, Bath and Beyond in Park Place, Barrie.

The suspect attended Bed, Bath and Beyond on Wednesday, March 22, at 3:30 p.m.,  and attempted to purchase two vacuum cleaners valued at $1400 each, utilizing a credit card. The suspect had been acting in a suspicious manner which prompted the employee to request a second piece of identification. Further inquiries found that the credit card was fraudulent. The card had been reproduced and contained stolen credit card information; classic case of identity theft. Further questioning about the credit card alarmed the suspect. His futile attempt to grab the credit card from the employees hand quickly led to him fleeing the store before police could be called.

It is believed the same suspect is responsible for a similar fraud at Bed, Bath and Beyond in Belleville, Ontario. The video surveillance quality is poor, although it does capture a unique logo on the suspects clothing. Police are hoping to identify the suspect with the public’s assistance.

The suspect is described as;

  • Male, white
  • 5’6”, medium build
  • Short dark hair, unshaven
  • Tattoo on left hand.
  • Wearing a black and white baseball hat, black sweater and jeans.
