Investigation by CRU Takes Drugs Off the Streets
April 13th, 2017 - Police & the Community

Barrie Police Community Response Unit (CRU) began a preliminary investigation at the beginning of this year after receiving information into possible drug trafficking at a local motel.

On Tuesday, April 11th, 2017 the investigation led CRU along with Tactical Services and various patrol officers to execute a search warrant at a room at Knights Inn located at 150 Dunlop Street West, in the City of Barrie.  The two males that were inside the room were arrested and the following items were located:

-   9 grams of Crack Cocaine
-   14 grams of Powder Cocaine
-   5 grams of Heroin
-   4 grams of Cannabis Marijuana
-   A quantity of Cash

A 24-year old Mississauga male was charged with:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance x 4
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x 3
  • Fail to Comply with Probation

A 27-year-old male of no fixed address was charged with:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance x 4
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x 3

It is believed the street value of the drugs seized in relation to this investigation exceeds $7,000. Investigators feel this seizure and the arrests of these individuals will result in a major dent in the drugs reaching the streets of Barrie.

The public is reminded that anyone who may have information into the illegal distribution or possession of drugs can anonymously report to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or leave an anonymous tip online at www.tipsubmit.com
