Occurrence Type: Unwelcome
Occurrence #: BA17016965
Date: Saturday, April 8, 2017 - 12:20am

A Barrie resident came home to an uninvited guest just after midnight Saturday morning.  A tenant from a separate unit in the building had broken into the apartment and made himself comfortable in the bedroom - apparently using cocaine and watching movies on his phone.  The homeowner confronted the intruder and demanded he leave, before placing the call to police.

When police arrived the male had already returned to his apartment and refused to exit.  Police obtained a warrant to enter the residence and returned for the male who was arrested without incident.

As a result, a 46 year old Barrie man is currently in custody at the Barrie Police Station to await bail on the charges of Unlawfully in a Dwelling House, Mischief Under $5000 and Breach of Probation.

Occurrence Type: Public Intox
Occurrence #: BA17016987
Date: Saturday, April 8, 2017 - 5:30am

Barrie Police were called to  Fox Run early Saturday morning with regards to a suspicious person.   A homeowner woke up to discover an unknown female asleep on a snow bank in front of their house.  Police arrived and located a 21 year old Barrie woman who had consumed more than her fair share of alcohol.  She had taken a taxi cab to the neighbourhood expecting a place to stay but was turned away and instead of returning home, gave up and went to sleep at the side of the road.  In addition to being unable to care for herself the female was extremely loud and belligerent and continued to be so after being arrested for her own safety and transported to the Barrie Police station to sober up indoors.  The female will be released when sober with a ticket for Public Intoxication.
