Occurrence Type: Robbery at Mac's Convenience
Occurrence #: BA17022029
Date: Sunday, May 7, 2017 - 1:45am

Barrie Police responded to a panic alarm at Mac's Convenience after two males entered the store in disguise, each armed with a knife, demanding money.

On Sunday, May 7th, 2017 at 1:45am Police attended the Mac's Convenience store located at 201 Hurst Drive, in the City of Barrie, after receiving the alarm.  The employee on scene advised two suspects approached the counter, each armed with a knife and demanded the store employee turnover money from the cash register. The employee complied with the demand and upon collecting the money the suspects went to the cigarettes and piled an unknown quantity into a grocery bag. The suspects fled the store on foot and were last seen running southbound on Hurst Drive towards Coxmill Road.

The employee did not sustain any physical injuries as a result of the incident.

The Barrie Police K9 Unit attended and with the assistance of tactical officers initiated a track from the store.  The quick call from store staff, rapid response of officers and keen nose of PSD Serge, evidence belonging to the suspects was collected.  The track lead officers right to the door of the two suspect, a short distance away, just off Coxmill Road.

Investigators were also able to link this occurrence to the robbery that occurred on Wednesday, April 5th, 2017 at the same Mac's Convenience location (see BA17016652).
