37-year-old Bryan Smith of Barrie turned himself into Barrie Police Service on Tuesday evening after a warrant was sworn for his arrest earlier in the day.  He has been charged with one count of Assault Cause Bodily Harm and will appear in Barrie court Wednesday, July 5th, 2017.

Barrie Police Service have issued an arrest warrant for 37-year-old Bryan Smith of Barrie in relation to the suspicious death of 45-year-old Brett Wicket on Saturday, July 1st, 2017.  A warrant for the charge of Assault- Cause Bodily Harm was sword to Tuesday and anyone with information on the whereabouts of the accused is asked to contact Barrie Police Service.

Barrie Police Homicide Unit is currently investigating a suspicious death after a male was admitted to Royal Victoria Regional Health Center (RVRHC) at 1:30pm on Saturday, July 1st, 2017 with obvious signs of trauma. 

The male victim, identified as 45-year-old Brett Wickett of Barrie, succumbed to his injuries shortly after 8:00pm on Saturday, July 1st, 2017. On Monday, July 3rd, 2017 a forensic postmortem conducted at the Center of Forensic Sciences has identified the preliminary cause of death as being a blunt force head injury. 

Investigators believe the second male involved is 37-year-old Bryan Smith of Barrie. He is being urged to contact police immediately or attend the Barrie Police Service to speak to investigators in relation to the incident. 

Barrie Police Forensic Identification Unit processed the scene of the incident at 188 Anne Street South throughout the day Sunday and concluded Monday. On Saturday, July 1st, 2017 at 1:30pm Barrie Police Service received a call to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVRHC), located at 201 Georgian Drive in the City of Barrie, after a patient was admitted with obvious signs of trauma.  

Police are in the initial phases of the investigation, however information obtained thus far has determined an altercation between two males occurred sometime the previous evening at an address on Anne Street South. A 45-year-old Barrie male succumbed to his injuries shortly after 8:00pm on Saturday, July 1st, 2017 at RVRHC. A forensic postmortem will take place on Monday, July 3rd, 2017 at the Center of Forensic Sciences.

Investigators are looking to speak to 37-year-old Bryan Smith of Barrie.  Police believe the male is currently in the Midland-Penetang area and are urging him to contact investigators immediately.  The victim and suspect were known to each other and police do not believe there is a concern for public safety at this time.
