The Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit began an investigation on September 20, 2022 after receiving information from the National Child Exploitation Crime Centre (NCECC) of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) via the Montreal Police concerning an on-line luring investigation involving a 12-year-old victim and a 66-year-old male who lived in Barrie.
On December 14, 2022, the Barrie Police Service ICE Unit executed a search warrant at the home of the suspect and arrested the male after locating him inside.
The accused has been charged with Luring a Child, Making Sexually Explicit Material Available to a Child and Making Child Pornography. He was held for a bail hearing and has been remanded in custody.
