Barrie Police Citizens on Patrol (COP) Program Grows
The Barrie Police Citizens on Patrol (COP) program is expanding and we are really excited about it. On Tuesday night, we swore in FIVE new members. Just a few weeks prior we swore in THREE for a total of EIGHT new volunteer members this year alone. Our program is growing into a community of amazing volunteers. We now have 17 members on the team and our goal is to have 50 by the end of the year.
Tuesday night’s training saw our entire volunteer group assembled for the first meeting of the year to go over expectations, policies and procedures and of course welcome and swear in the new members. Additionally, with the assistance of the Traffic Unit our volunteers received exposure to technology designed to enhance traffic safety. We have exciting plans for our volunteers to assist in our community.
