The Barrie Police Services Board is pleased to announce that board member Greg Ferguson has been named the new Board Chair, effective January 21, 2020.

Past Chair Angela Lockridge has served as Chair since 2017 and has been a Board Member since 2012. In her time as Chair, she demonstrated her keen and unwavering dedication to the Barrie Police Service and its Members.

“As I take on the role of Chair, I am thankful for the significant efforts of Chair Lockridge during her eight years as a Board Member,” said Ferguson. “I look forward to working with the Board, and the Service to continue the great work that has taken place over the past few years.

Greg Ferguson was named to the Barrie Police Services Board in 2019 and is currently the Managing Partner at Powell Jones LLP. He has also served on the boards for the Rotary Club of Barrie-Kempenfelt, the Season’s Centre for Grieving Children in Barrie, and Gilda’s Club – Simcoe Muskoka.

Angela Lockridge came to the Barrie Police Services Board with a wealth of experience, having served in senior roles in the Ontario Public Service, and as Provincial Commander, Corporate Services with the Ontario Provincial Police. Chair Lockridge balanced her responsibilities as Board Chair with her full-time role as Vice-President, Corporate Services and Innovation at Georgian College.

“On behalf of the Members of the Barrie Police Service, and the entire Barrie Community, we welcome Chair Ferguson to the role, and thank Chair Lockridge for her dedication, insights, and guidance she has provided over her time on the Board,” said Barrie Police Service Chief Kimberley Greenwood.

With Lockridge’s appointment expiring at the end of 2020, the vacancy on the Board will be filled by appointment from the province.
