Chief Greenwood to continue in role until 2023
The Barrie Police Services Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Inspector Robert W. Allan to the position of Deputy Chief – Support Services, effective July 29, 2020.
The Barrie Police Services Board is also pleased to announce that Chief Kimberley Greenwood, who was appointed as Chief of Police in 2013, will continue in this role until 2023.
With the continued growth of the city, the Deputy Chief – Support Services was integrated into the 2020 budget to enable the Service to support the changing needs of the community. Deputy Chief Ken Weatherill will be responsible for Operations while Deputy Chief Allan will be responsible for Support Services once he is sworn into his new role.
“We are entering a period of significant change. This internal appointment, in addition to the extension to Chief Greenwood’s contract, will position the Barrie Police Service to continue to build collaborative relationships with the community and ensure the safety and well-being of our citizens. The professional policing that the Barrie Police Service provides to our community will continue to be our priority while we explore innovative ways to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our service delivery,” said Barrie Police Services Board Chair Angela Lockridge.

Inspector Allan - Biography
After 11 years with the Toronto Police Service, Inspector Robert W. Allan joined the Barrie Police Service in May of 2000. Since then, he has served in a variety of roles gaining extensive experience across all areas of the Service.
Since 2017, Inspector Allan has been responsible for the Executive Services Division, responsible for Professional Standards, Strategic Planning and Research and
Inspector Allan is a graduate of the Rotman School of Business – Police Leadership Program, a Critical Incident Commander, and a designated Hearing Officer under the Police Services Act. Inspector Allan is currently working towards a Master of Public Safety degree at Wilfrid Laurier University.
He is thankful to his wife and two sons for their ongoing support throughout the demands of a 32-year policing career.
