Early Sunday morning, at 3:33 a.m., Barrie Police responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision after a car left the roadway and struck a Penetang Street residence.
Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered that the involved motor vehicle had actually entered the front room of the home after the driver failed to negotiate the curve in the road.
The driver, who was the lone occupant in the car, exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested at the scene. She was transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where a qualified breathalyzer technician assisted with the ongoing investigation.
As a result of this investigation and subsequent testing that was conducted, the driver, a 21-year-old female resident of Barrie, has been charged with Operation while Impaired and Drive over .80mgs. She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie on March 27, 2023.
The motor vehicle that was being operated at the time of this collision sustained significant front end damage, was impounded for 7-days and the driver had her driver’s licence suspended for 90-days, in accordance with the Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) program.
