On Sunday, March 3, 2025, shortly after midnight, the Barrie Police Service was made aware of a mischief that had just taken place at the carpool lot located at Essa Road and Ardagh Road in the City of Barrie.

Police were advised that a male had just broken a window to a car parked in the lot. The unknown suspect then reached into the car and removed some personal belongings from the centre console while the owner, who was initially asleep in the car, awoke, and chased the suspect into a wooded area on the south side of Essa Road.

A canine track was conducted and just before 2:00 a.m., a 36-year-old male of no fixed address was located and arrested. Six additional vehicles that had been parked in the same carpool lot were entered after they too had their windows broken.

The male was transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where the investigation continued and eventually concluded after he was formally charged with Mischief over $5000 (7 counts) and Fail to Comply with a Probation Order .

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie on April 24, 2024.
