(BARRIE, ON) – On July 31, 2019, members of the Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET), including members of the Ontario Provincial Police and Barrie Police Service, served a warrant at an illegal Cannabis Dispensary on Dunlop Street in the City of Barrie.
Police seized cannabis and cannabis-related products valued at $24,730, as well as $4333 of Canadian currency and electronics related to the illegal business.
The store employees were both arrested and charged.
Richard Barry HEWSON 31-years-old of Barrie, Ontario charged with:
• Possession of Cannabis for the purpose of selling – Cannabis Act
• Selling Cannabis – Cannabis Act
• Possession of Proceeds of crime under $5000 – Criminal Code
Matthew RICHER 23-years-old of Sudbury, Ontario charged with:
• Possession of Cannabis for the purpose of selling – Cannabis Act
• Selling Cannabis – Cannabis Act
• Possession of Proceeds of crime under $5000 – Criminal Code
The accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on September 28, 2019.
