The Barrie Police Service was kept on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, with several motor vehicle collisions.

At 3:18 p.m., police responded to Livingstone Steet West and Sunnidale Road for a report of a single motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, the involved sport utility vehicle was located at the rear of a property after colliding with a shed. Initially, the SUV left the roadway and struck a fence and prior to that, police learned, there was another minor collision involving a motor vehicle that had occurred on Barwick Drive. As a result of the investigation, which was conducted by the Barrie Police Service Traffic Unit, an 82-year-old man from Barrie has been charged with Careless Driving.

At 8:23 p.m., Barrie Police responded to a report of a collision that occurred on Dunlop Street West at Hart Drive that involved a transport truck and trailer carrying new cars. As the truck slowed and signaled to turn south onto Hart Drive, it was struck by an eastbound white coloured Ford Explorer that sped away from the area after contacting the rear right of the trailer. The truck driver did pull over on Hart Drive and a short time later, a white Ford Explorer arrived only to leave again without exchanging information.

The Barrie Police investigation into this collision is being treated as a fail to remain and police are asking that anyone who knows of or sees a white Ford Explorer with fresh front in damage to please obtain a licence plate and contact the investigating officer at [email protected] .

Later in the evening, at 9:18 p.m., Police responded to a three-vehicle collision that occurred in the intersection of Bayfield Street and Rose Street that involved a motorcycle, passenger car and a pickup truck.

From the investigation that followed by members of the Barrie Police Service Traffic Unit, it has been determined that the motorcycle, which was northbound on Bayfield Street, entered the intersection as the passenger car was turning left onto Rose Street from southbound Bayfield Steet. The motorcycle operator, a 24-year-old male, collided with the car as it turned, was thrown from the motorcycle, and sustained a leg injury that is serious, but non-life-threatening. He was transported to a local hospital where he remains hospitalized for the injury he sustained.

The at scene collision investigation required the intersection to be closed until 1:20 a.m. this morning.

This investigation remains ongoing, and no charges have been laid at this time.
