Contacting Victim Services during COVID-19
During the ongoing COVID-19 situation, please contact Victim Services of Simcoe County by phone at 705-725-7025 ext 2120, or by email at [email protected].
Victim Services of Simcoe County (VSSC) is a non-profit, incorporated, volunteer-based community program with charitable status. It has been in operation since January 1996.
VSSC provides early assistance and support to victims 24/7, whether in-person by telephone or through other secure technologies, to cope in the aftermath of crime or tragic circumstances. Services include emotional support, practical assistance, community referrals, and information for victims of crime or tragedy. With the consent of the victim, referral to VSSC is directly through police and community agencies.
Support is provided on-site, by trained crisis response volunteers and VSSC staff, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, by police referrals in the catchment areas for Barrie Police Service, South Simcoe Police, and the OPP Detachments for Nottawasaga, Collingwood, and the Blue Mountains, Huronia West and Southern Georgian Bay (Midland/Penetanguishene).
VSSC is funded by the Victim Justice Fund, administered by the Ministry of the Attorney General, and governed by a community-based Board of Directors. All service volunteers with the program complete an extensive mandatory training prior to becoming a crisis responder.
The benefits of the VSSC program include enabling police to proceed to other calls sooner, immediate crisis assistance to a victim of a crime or tragedy, an opportunity for members of the community to learn more about the legal justice system, and to become involved in a caring capacity to others in a time of need.

For more information about the program, or to volunteer, please contact Marie McCallum, Executive Director, at 705-725-7025, extension 2120.
