A mid-afternoon two car crash that was completely avoidable, created a traffic slowdown yesterday afternoon on Cundles Road East, near Lions Gate Boulevard as Barrie Police, Barrie Fire and Emergency Services and County of Simcoe Paramedic Services attended to the scene.

The collision, which happened at approximately 3:46 p.m., occurred after a black coloured passenger car that was travelling eastbound on Cundles Road East reportedly drifted across a number of lanes of traffic and struck a white coloured sport utility vehicle (SUV) that was travelling westbound in the curb lane of Cundles Road East. The driver of the SUV sustained minor non-life-threatening injuries because of the crash.  

A male and female who were in the passenger car fled the scene on foot and although a canine track was conducted, they managed to elude being apprehended. Through the course of the ongoing investigation, police have been able to identify the 31-year-old male and the 47-year-old female and warrants are being sought for their arrest.

Police also seized a quantity of suspected heroin, cocaine and drug related paraphernalia from the car and at the time of the crash, the male who was driving was as being passed out behind the wheel
