On Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 3:20 p.m., officers from the Barrie Police Service Traffic Unit responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision at the rear of 342 Bayfield Street.
Upon arrival, police located the involved motor vehicle that had just struck and damaged a large section of wooden fencing before it struck a large pine tree. Barrie Fire and Emergency Services were on scene and assisted with removing the 37-year-old female driver who was transported to a local hospital by the County of Simcoe Paramedic Services with what are described as non-life threatening injuries. A male passenger who was in the car at the collision was uninjured and did not require any medical attention.
From the investigation that followed, police have determined that the involved motor vehicle had just left a nearby fast-food restaurant and for reasons unknown at this time, as it crossed Glenwood Dr., accelerated striking the fence and came to rest after striking the tree.
This investigation remains ongoing and at present, no charges have been laid.
