Between October 19, 2022, and November 1, 2022, in conjunction with a possession of child pornography investigation, the Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit executed three search warrants at residences located in Barrie and Collingwood and seized a total of 10 computer devices. These devices are currently undergoing forensic examination.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, a 49-year-old male from Barrie was arrested on November 1, 2022, and has been charged with Sexual Assault, Sexual interference and Invitation to Sexual Touching.
Then, on November 2, 2022, the Barrie Police Service ICE Unit executed a Criminal Code search warrant at a residence in Victoria Harbour concerning the luring of a child online via Skype and Snapchat.
A 28-year-old male resident of Victoria Harbour, who had previously resided in Barrie, was arrested and three computer devices were seized and are also undergoing forensic examination. He is now facing charges specific to child luring and making pornography available to a person under 18 years of age.
Both males were held in custody for a bail hearing and later released on conditions with future court dates.
This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
