On Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 11:05 p.m., a Barrie Police cruiser was in the parking lot located at 347 Bayfield St. when a passenger car attempted to leave a parking space and reversed striking the front of the cruiser. The driver did attempt to flee, but stopped after the officers ran after the car on foot.
From the investigation that followed, police were able to determine that the 26-year-old driver was not impaired but was wanted on two outstanding warrants that were held by the Waterloo Regional Police Service for a number of very serious criminal offences.
Barrie Police later contacted the Waterloo Regional Police Service who attended Police Headquarters and transported the wanted male back to their jurisdiction where he will appear in court later today.
