On Wednesday, March 29, 2023, shortly after 11:00 a.m., Barrie Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision where a parked car had been struck on Pine Drive. Police quickly learned that the vehicle responsible failed to stop and continued to a nearby address located on Spruce Crescent.
Police were able to locate the involved driver and determined that his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. He was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where the investigation continued.
The driver, a 49-year-old male from Barrie, was then interviewed by a qualified breathalyzer technician and through tests that were conducted, was able to determine that his blood alcohol level was nearly four times the legal limit.
The accused has been charged with Impaired Operation, Operation Over .80mgs and Drive Motor Vehicle- No Licence and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie on April 19, 2023.
