The Barrie Police Service is currently investigating a fail to remain collision involving a cyclist that occurred on Monday, June 12, 2023, at approximately 5:00 p.m. at the intersection of Patterson Road and Moon Drive.
The details of the incident were shared with police last night after the cyclist was taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries that were sustained in the collision.
The investigating officer has been able to determine that the cyclist was traveling southbound on the sidewalk of Patterson Road when a westbound, white coloured pickup truck with a ladder attached to it, failed to stop for the stop sign at Moon Drive and struck the cyclist. The pickup was occupied by two males who took the cyclist and his bike to a family member’s home located on Patterson Road and as they departed, one of the males stated, “I wish you a speedy recovery”.
Barrie Police is seeking the assistance of the public and are asking that if anyone witnessed this collision or may recognize the description of the involved pickup truck to please contact the investigating officer Constable Ward by emailing him at [email protected].
