On Tuesday, January 30, 2024, the Barrie Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit, and the Tactical Support Unit executed two Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrants as a result of a two-month drug investigation. 

A 25-year-old Barrie male has been arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (5 counts), Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (4 counts), Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (6 counts), Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Unsafe Storage of a Firearm and Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime.

A search of the Barrie residence revealed that this individual was in possession of the following drugs that have an estimated street value of $350,000:

  • Fentanyl: 687 grams
  • MDMA (Ecstasy): 182 grams
  • MDMA Pills: 684 pills
  • Crystal Methamphetamine: 1375 grams
  • Psilocybin: 80 grams
  • Methamphetamine tabs: 316 pills
  • Cocaine: 88 grams
  • Loaded 20-gauge shotgun

The male has been held in custody pending a bail hearing which is scheduled to take place by video today with the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie.
