On June 6, 2023, an officer from the Barrie Police Service attended an active construction site located at Mapleview Drive East and Madeline Drive regarding the theft of a piece of construction equipment.

Stolen was a Wacker diesel 28”,1000lb. reversible plate tamper that is valued at over $20000. It has been determined through the investigation that followed, that the tamper was likely stolen sometime between Wednesday, May 31 and Thursday, June 1, 2023 form the area of Madeline Drive and Copperhill Heights. Additionally, given the size and weight of the tamper, a piece of equipment capable of lifting along with a truck or trailer would have been required and likely multiple persons would have been necessary to carry out the theft.

Two additional tampers were also stolen from the same job site and reported to Barrie Police on May 29, 2023. These tampers were also both valued at $20000 and were likely stolen sometime between Friday, May 25 and Monday, May 29, 2023.

Barrie Police is asking that anyone who may have information on any of these thefts to please call our Service at 705-725-7025, extension 2634 or if you wish to remain anonymous, you can submit a web tip at: https://www.crimestopperssdm.com/submit-web-tip/.
