As Fraud Prevention Month wraps up, the Barrie Police Service reminds you to take time to carefully consider any requests, offers or threats you receive that try to obtain money, BitCoin or gift cards.

To help protect yourself from experiencing fraud, familiarize yourself with common techniques used by fraudsters, and don’t let anyone rush you into making a financial transaction.

Throughout the month, the Barrie Police Fraud Unit has shared common frauds that have been seen in our community. To stay up-to-date on fraudulent activity, please visit BarriePolice.ca/Fraud-Prevention and sign up for our email alerts.

If you have encountered a fraud attempt, but have not lost any money or personal information, please report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. If you have lost money through fraud, contact the Barrie Police Service Fraud Unit at 705-725-7025.
