On Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 7:08 p.m., the Barrie Police Service received a call from the County of Simcoe Paramedic Services who were reporting a collision that involved a pickup truck that had just struck a house on Country Lane.

Upon arrival at the scene, responding officers located a significant area of debris from two parked cars that had been struck and observed that the involved pickup truck had veered across the road after striking the cars, drove across the lawn of a Country Lane home and struck the garage wall of the neighbouring home.

Police located the driver, a 21-year-old male from Barrie, in the rear of an ambulance and determined that he was impaired. The male was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police continued their investigation at the hospital and conducted breath tests which confirmed that the driver was impaired. As a result of the investigation, the driver has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired Over 80
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Possess More Than One Licence
  • Drive Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available
  • Young Driver B.A.C. above zero.

The accused was released from custody once the police investigation was complete, and he is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie on September 13, 2023.
