On Wednesday, May 24, 2023, shortly before 6:00 a.m., the Barrie Police Service was made aware of the theft of a motor vehicle from a driveway in southwest Barrie.
Upon arrival at the Mabern Street residence, police learned that the owner of a 2015 red Jeep Wrangler awoke to find that it was missing from where he had parked it at 10:30 p.m. the night before.
The owner, who was in possession of two sets of keys, did not hear any noises overnight that could be attributed to the theft. The Jeep had Ontario licence plates BWMW359 on it when it was stolen.
Police are reminding motor vehicle owners to always lock your motor vehicle when you park it and if possible, secure it in a garage. Other security options can include the use of a steering wheel locking device, install security lighting and consider utilizing security cameras when possible
