The Barrie Police Service is pleased to announce that Lynn Strachan has been appointed by the province to serve as a member of the Barrie Police Services Board, effective February 12, 2021.
Strachan is an involved member of the Barrie community holding several volunteer and community positions over the past 20 years, including an elected city councilor for three terms. Currently, she is the vice-chairperson of the YMCA of Simcoe Muskoka, treasurer for the Barrie Film Festival, and a member of the Salvation Army Community Advisory Committee.
Other community positions held by Strachan include past board director of the following organizations: PowerStream, MacLaren Art Centre, Barrie Public Library Board, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, and the Barrie Public Art Committee.
Strachan holds a bachelor with honors in Environmental Studies from York University and a diploma from Sheridan College in Community Outreach and Development.

Strachan’s appointment fills the vacancy left by Past Chair Angela Lockridge who was a member of the Board since 2012, serving as Chair from 2017 – 2020.
