On Monday, March 18, 2024, at 3:46 p.m., the Barrie Police Service, along with Barrie Fire and Emergency Services and the County of Simcoe Paramedic Services responded to a two-car crash on Cundles Road East, near Lions Gate Boulevard.

Upon arrival at the scene, police learned that a male and female, who were in a passenger car that was involved in the crash, fled the scene on foot. A canine track was conducted, but they managed to elude apprehension. The other driver involved sustained minor non-life-threatening injuries because of the crash.

The investigation continued and a quantity of suspected cocaine, heroin and drug paraphernalia was seized from the involved passenger car. The identity of the persons who fled became known to police and warrants for their arrest were obtained.

Arriving officers very quickly determined that the involved male and female were wanted for the Monday afternoon crash on Cundles Road East. After a short period of time, a 47-year-old female and a 31-year-old male were taken into custody and transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where the ongoing investigation continued well into the evening hours.
