On Sunday, January 28, 2024, at 8:47 p.m., officers from the Barrie Police Service responded to a report of a robbery that had just taken place near the parking lot of a plaza located at Grove Street East and Johnson Street.
Responding officers learned that the 26-year-old victim was attending a convenience store in the plaza and when he exited, an unknown male approached as he was walking along Grove Street East. The suspect produced a knife, made a demand, and stole the victim’s wallet. He fled on foot and was last seen running down a nearby walkway.
The suspect is described as male black, 5’9”, average build, 130-140lbs., early 20’s, glasses, wearing a face mask and a black winter coat. A second male who was seen with the suspect, but was not involved in the robbery, is described as wearing a camouflage track suit.
The victim did not sustain any injuries and the investigation remains ongoing by detectives from the Service’s Criminal Investigation Division.
Last night, detectives attended the convenience store in the plaza and are attempting to locate video surveillance from nearby businesses that may help to identify the armed suspect.
