On Sunday April 17, 2022, at 3:20 p.m., Barrie Police responded to a report of an assault that had just taken place on Barrett Crescent.

Upon arrival at the scene, police determined that the victim had been stabbed and the suspect, who was known, had fled the scene in a motor vehicle. The victim was transported to local hospital suffering from a serious injury and was later air lifted to a Toronto area trauma centre.

At 4:50 p.m., the accused, a 25-year old Barrie resident was arrested without incident after being located in a parking lot at Essa and Beacon Roads. He has charged with Fail to Comply with Probation (3 counts), Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Assault with a Weapon, Aggravated Assault and held in custody for a bail hearing.

As a result of yesterday’s bail hearing, the accused has been released from custody and is next scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on Monday, May 2, 2022.
