The Barrie Police Service Street Crime Unit recently concluded a lengthy criminal investigation that focused on break and enters and thefts that occurred in the City of Barrie and in nearby Simcoe County communities between August and December last year.

As a result of the investigation, numerous Criminal Code Search Warrants were executed within the City of Barrie and the surrounding area. This resulted in the arrest of six individuals who have been charged with 45 Criminal Code offences including:

  • Break and Enter
  • Possession of Break in Instruments
  • Possession of Stolen Property
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle
  • Theft Over $5000
  • Mischief Under $5000
  • Flight from Police
  • Operation while Prohibited.

The investigation also netted the seizure of the following stolen vehicles which are valued at $643,000:

  • U-HAUL trucks (2)
  • U-HAUL Cube Van
  • U-HAUL Sprinter Van
  • Tent Trailer
  • Dodge Ram Truck
  • Motorcycles (2)
  • Antique Dodge Challenger car and enclosed trailer
  • Minivan
  • 2 Ford F150 trucks

In addition to the recovered vehicles, Barrie Police investigators also recovered an additional $80,000 in stolen property from the various break and enters that had taken place during the five-month period.
