On Thursday, September 20, 2023, at 8:27 p.m., the Barrie Police Service was advised of a motor vehicle collision that had just occurred at the intersection of Bayfield and Grove Streets.
Upon arrival at the intersection, police located five vehicles that were involved in what can be described as a chain reaction collision. From the investigation that followed, police very quickly determined that four vehicles were struck by southbound car being operated by a 31-year-old female from Holland Landing. One of the other involved drivers was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.
The driver responsible for this collision was arrested and transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where it was later determined that she was almost four times over the legal limit. As a result, she has been charged with Operation while Impaired and Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie on October 11, 2023.
