On Sunday, April 16, 2023, at 6:41 a.m., the Barrie Police Service was advised of a motor vehicle that had been parked in a suspicious manner on a side street north of Dunlop Street West and east of Eccles Street North in the city of Barrie.

Upon arrival of the police, the driver, a 35-year-old male from Brampton, Ontario was arrested for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle by Drug. Also located was a quantity suspected cocaine and a large amount of Canadian currency. The passenger, a 40-year-old Barrie resident was also arrested for drug related offences. 

During the ongoing investigation that followed, police located a fully loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol and as a result, the males were charged jointly with a slew of firearms, drug possession and drug trafficking offences.

Both men were held in custody and are scheduled to appear by video for a bail hearing that is scheduled for today at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie.

Barrie Police wish to thank the community member who called to advise of the manner in which this car was parked, and as a result, has contributed to making Barrie safer today with a quantity of drugs and another illegal firearm being removed from our streets.
