Firearm, Cocaine and Heroin Seized After Traffic Stop

On Sunday, April 16th, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. Barrie Police officers conducted a stop of a motor vehicle on Anne Street, in the City of Barrie, as a result of an ongoing investigation. The driver was arrested for unauthorized possession of a firearm during the traffic stop and the vehicle was seized for further investigation. 

The Barrie Police Street Crime Unit executed a search warrant on the vehicle and located:

  • 50g of Cocaine
  • 13g of Heroin
  • Loaded 9mm handgun 

The 2008 Infinity used in the commission of the offence was also seized by police.

 A 24-year-old Brampton man has been charged with: 

  1. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  2. Possession of a Firearm with No Licence
  3. Careless Storage of a Firearm
  4. Firearm in Motor Vehicle
  5. Possession of a Loaded Firearm
  6. Tampering with a Serial Number
  7. Breach of Undertaking
  8. Breach of Probation
  9. Breach of Probation 
  10. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking- Cocaine
  11. Possession of Cocaine
  12. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking- Heroin
  13. Possession of Heroin

It is believed the street value of the drugs seized as a result of this investigation exceeds $10,000 and contributes to continued efforts to arrest those responsible for distributing illegal narcotics on the streets of Barrie.
