Barrie Police Service is seeking the identity of two (2) males after a string of fragrance thefts over the last couple months that may be linked to similar thefts in other jurisdictions.

On Sunday, June 10th, 2018 at 6:30pm two males entered the Shoppers Drug Mart located at 420 Essa Road, in the City of Barrie.  The first male headed into the cosmetics section and spoke with the cosmetician, bringing her down an aisle to keep her distracted. The second male made his way to the fragrance wall. He began to fill a cooler bag he was carrying, taking colognes & perfumes from the shelf and counter area.  He then exited the store making no attempt to pay and could immediately be seen making a phone call. The male still in the store could be observed answering his phone and then leaving the aisle where he was still talking to the cosmetician. He swiftly left the store to meet the other suspect behind the building and both suspects were last seen leaving the area on foot.

On Monday, July 9th, 2018 at 8:00 pm two (2) suspects entered the Shoppers Drug Mart located at 380 Mapleview Drive West, in the City of Barrie.  The first suspect proceeded to the Chanel Section and, crouching down, was able to open a secured storage drawer with an unknown object.  At the same time, the second suspect distracted the employee with numerous questions. The employee became suspicious of the distraction technique and began to check the store for a theft in progress.  As the suspect with the cooler bag full of cologne exited the store, he was stopped by the employee.  He presented an empty backpack, while keeping the cooler bag closed and out of sight.  He immediately left the sore with the second male suspect quickly fleeing behind him.  Both were seen on foot heading westbound on Mapleview Drive West.
