This morning at approximately 4:00 a.m., a resident of Patterson Rd. was awakened by the sound of his 2021 Dodge RAM Rebel pickup truck, with Ontario licence plates BK68927 being started in his driveway. When he approached the front of his house, the black in colour pickup was gone. This pickup had red tow hooks on the front, was equipped with a tonneau cover, RAM storage boxes and had tinted windows.

A Bishop Dr. resident also contacted Barrie Police to report the overnight theft of a 2022 Dodge RAM Longhorn Limited, black, with Ontario licence plates BB86961.

In both of these thefts, the owners were in possession of the keys to their stolen pickup trucks.

It would appear that thieves are again active in our community and are targeting vehicles while their owners are sleeping. Police are strongly encouraging owners of newer model Dodge RAM pickup trucks, Toyota Highlander and Lexus RX350 sport utility vehicles to do what they can to secure your motor vehicles against theft as these vehicles are highly sought after thieves. Sterring wheel locking devices, using another vehicle, a radio frequency blocking pouch or securing your car in a locked garage can help to prevent you in becoming the next victim.

The Barrie Police Service is again reminding the community to have a watchful eye and if you see any suspicious persons or motor vehicles in your neighbourhood, at any time of the day or night, to take note of the vehicle, the occupant(s) and if possible, obtain a licence plate. By calling 911, your observations may help prevent a potential theft from taking place.
