On Wednesday, June 14, 2023, the Barrie Police Service was made aware of a rather bizarre theft that took place earlier in the day at a residence located on Jagges Drive.
The victim in this theft reported to police that sometime between 7:20 a.m. – 7:37 a.m., an unknown person dug out a plant from a garden that contained what are described as 20 Irish flowers. The person responsible also took the dirt and left a hole in the ground that was approximately 45cm in diameter.
On Monday, a resident of Collete Crescent notified Barrie Police that two black planters that were on the porch of their home were also stolen sometime prior to the report being made (likely over the weekend). The planters were valued at $140.
Thefts like these are certainly not common, but police are asking the public to report any suspicious persons or activity to police immediately. Community safety is a shared responsibility and by working together, we can keep personal property where it belongs and not in the hands of opportunistic thieves.
