On Sunday, April 17, 2022, at 6:38 p.m., Barrie Police responded to a report of a disturbance at a Commerce Park Drive parking lot.
Responding officers were advised by witnesses that a male who had just exited a business was assaulted and forced into an awaiting vehicle by three males. The vehicle then fled the scene.
Through the investigation that followed, and with the assistance of police services located within the Greater Toronto area, detectives from the Barrie Police Investigative Services were able to determine that the 26-year-old victim had been forcibly abducted, assaulted and threatened over a period of time. The victim did sustain injuries, but they were non-life threatening in nature.
Two males aged 35 and 32 from Mississauga were arrested in late April and have been charged with multiple offences in regard to their involvement in this incident. They were both held for a bail hearing and have since been released from custody. Both are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie on June 1, 2022.
Yesterday, a third male who is 23-years old from Toronto was arrested and charged with Kidnapping. He was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on June 20, 2022.
