On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at 5:08 p.m., the Barrie Police Service was notified of a motor vehicle collision that had just taken place at Innisfil Street and John Street in the City of Barrie.
From the investigation that followed by members of the Barrie Police Service Traffic Unit, police have determined that a 56-year-old male from Barrie was operating his motorcycle northbound on Innisfil St. when a southbound motor vehicle, that was turning left onto John St., turned in front of him. The resulting collision caused the motorcycle operator to be thrown from his motorcycle and as a result, he sustained fatal injuries.
In order to safely investigate this collision, roads in the Innisfil and John Streets area remained closed until shortly after 9:30 p.m.
The investigation into this traffic fatality remains ongoing and charges are pending.
