On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 10:37 a.m., officers from the Barrie Police Service, along with Barrie Fire and Emergency Services and the County of Simcoe Paramedic Services responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a truck on Mary Street between Dunlop Street West and Simcoe Street.

Upon arrival, the pedestrian, a 60-year-old female from Barrie, was pronounced deceased as a result of serious injuries that were sustained after she had stepped off the west curb and was struck by a departing truck from a nearby construction site. The driver of the involved truck was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

This ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Barrie Police Service Traffic Unit and although video from the immediate area has been located and seized, police are asking anyone who may have been on Mary Street and witnessed the collision to please contact the investigating officer Detective Constable Langdon by email at [email protected].
