Last night, at approximately 8:25 p.m., Barrie Police responded to a report of a physical altercation taking place in a unit located at 306 Georgian Drive that involved several males. Upon arrival, police observed County of Simcoe Paramedic Services assisting a male in the driveway area of the residential building who had sustained a serious head injury. That male was immediately transported to hospital for medical attention.
As the on-scene investigation into the assault continued, police were able to determine where the persons responsible were located and attended to that unit within the Georgian Drive complex.
With the assistance of the Barrie Police Tactical Support Unit, the unit was entered, and two males were taken into custody without incident. The males were then transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where the ongoing investigation continued.
As a result of the investigation, an 18-year-old male and 24-year-old male, both from Barrie have been charged with assault. The 18-year-old has also been charged with Assault with a Weapon, Assault Case Bodily Harm, Mischief Under $5000 and Fail to Comply with an Undertaking (2 counts). Both males have been held in custody and will appear by video this morning for a bail hearing.
