On Monday, May 29, 2023, at 5:21 p.m., the Barrie Police Service was made aware of an incident involving a disruptive male at the Royal Victoria Regional Heath Centre located on Georgian Drive in the city of Barrie.
Hospital Security was initially called to the Food Court where a male was reportedly yelling and screaming at other people in the area. His behaviour began to change, and he was becoming more aggressive. Security escorted him to a nearby exit where he continued to be uncooperative and tried to re-enter the hospital against their direction. The male was then arrested for Fail to Leave Premises when Directed, contrary to the Trespass to Property Act.
Upon arrival of officers from the Barrie Police Service, police continued the arrest and removed the male from the hospital grounds to a shelter where he was issued a Provincial Offences Act ticket under the Trespass to Property Act.
The 50-year-old male, who is from Barrie, was also issued a Trespass Notice and has been banned from returning to the hospital for one year, unless he requires medical attention.
