On Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 7:53 p.m., officers from the Barrie Police Service responded to a report of a robbery at a financial services business located on Mapleview Drive West in the City of Barrie.

Upon arrival, uniform officers determined that the persons responsible were no longer on scene and a perimeter was established to allow for a possible canine track to take place. Police also utilized a Remote Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) to search for the suspects, but were unable to locate them. A canine track was conducted, and police were able to determine that the suspects fled in a motor vehicle that had been parked nearby after the attempted robbery.

Through the investigation that followed and assisted by surveillance video obtained from businesses in the area, police have been able to determine that they are searching for two suspects who are described as:

Suspect #1:
Male white, black and white Nike Shoes, black pants, black balaclava, black jacket carrying a small sledgehammer with a wooden handle.

Suspect #2:
Male white, black balaclava, black boots, black backpack with some shape of a logo on it, carrying a black handgun.

Police have also determined that the suspects did not obtain any currency in this attempted robbery and left empty handed.
