On Wednesday, April 12, 2023, officers from the Barrie Police Service responded to two disturbing incidents that occurred in northeast Barrie.

The first incident occurred at approximately at 12:40 a.m. when a Cook Street resident went out to their backyard and observed an unknown male performing an indecent act. The male fled when challenged into a neighbour’s yard and was last seen heading in a southerly direction.

The second incident occurred at 4:30 a.m. at the same home when the resident heard a noise outside and again, the same person was observed acting in the same manner as earlier described. The male white suspect is described as being approximately 40-years old, wearing long pants, a red flannel jacket and a toque.

Barrie Police, from the investigations that followed, believe that the suspect may live locally and are asking people who live in the area and have surveillance cameras to check them and see if there is any activity involving the male suspect that may have been captured during the aforementioned times.

Although there have been no attempts made to enter the involved residence, based upon information responding officers received, it is believed that these two reported overnight incidents may not have been the first time that the suspect has attended this home.

Police are warning the public to always be vigilant and with warm weather in the forecast, to always make sure that doors and windows are locked, especially during the overnight hours.

The public is also reminded to always ensure that any suspicious activity or persons is immediately reported to police and that if your residence is equipped with video surveillance cameras, that this equipment is activated overnight or at any time that you might be away from your house.

Anyone with information or video that may assist police with this ongoing investigation is asked to contact Barrie Police at 705-725-7025, extension 2741.
