On Monday, July 11, 2022, at 2:33 a.m., Barrie Police along with Barrie Fire and Emergency Services responded to a report of a fire at 75 Mapleview Drive West.
Upon arrival, a food trailer, which operates daily from a reserved section of the parking lot was located on fire and Barrie Fire quickly extinguished the flames.
Later that morning, detectives from Barrie Police attended nearby businesses and conducted a canvass for any video surveillance that may assist in identifying a suspect. Surveillance video captured an image of a male on a mountain style bike as he travelled eastbound on the south sidewalk of Mapleview Drive West just before 2:20 a.m.
The suspect is described as male white, with either dark hair or a dark-coloured hat, wearing dark clothing and a backpack. Police believe that the suspect may have been injured and could have been burned as a result of the arson.
Although the pictures are not clear, it is possible that someone travelling in the area at that time may have seen the suspect or even captured him on dash camera video.
Any information can be shared with Sergeant Castonguay at 705-725-7025 extension 2953 or Detective Constable Beard at 705-725-7025 extension 2582.
