On Sunday, August 13, 2023, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Barrie Police to multiple disturbances outside a Dunlop Street East establishment.
One incident in particular resulted in a male victim trying to take control of a person who was armed with a crowbar when a second suspect came up quickly from behind and slashed him in the back with what has been described as a machete style knife.
The male with the machete, who is believed to have arrived in the area in a light-coloured Honda Odyssey, then began to swing violently at others in the crowd and struck a second male on his right forearm.
After this, the suspects fled on foot through Meridan Place towards Kempenfelt Bay. Both victims sustained significant lacerations and were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Police are trying to identify two male suspects who are described as:
Suspect 1: Male brown, 17-20 years, 5’6”-5’8” 150lbs., wearing a close-fitting cloth upon his head, possibly with short dreadlocks beneath, a dark colored t-shirt with a large distinctive design on the back and dark pants. He was seen in the company of two males and a female just prior to the incident.
Suspect 2: Male, dark brown complexion, in his 40’s, 5’6” heavy set, approximately 200lbs., wearing a dark hoody with a light shirt under and dark pants.
Police are aware that several onlookers were recording the incident on their mobile devices and are seeking the assistance of the public in identifying these suspects.
