The Barrie Police Records and Information Management Services Unit is reminding Barrie residents that Record Checks can be quicky, easily and securely completed online through the Barrie Police Service website.

Launched in 2017, the online service allows Barrie residents to securely apply for a Record Check 24-hours-a-day, without having to attend the Barrie Police Service Headquarters. All aspects of the process – including verification of your identification, and fee payment – are handled electronically. If there are no concerns or follow-up required, your record check documents will be mailed to you in a confidential envelope.

As of January 1, 2020, in-person record checks requested for volunteer positions will be subject to a $20 fee, while online volunteer record checks will remain just $12. Applicants under 21 are not able to apply for record checks online, and their volunteer record checks will be subject to a $12 fee when filed in-person. All other fees will remain the same.

Records Checks may require a follow up if you require a Vulnerable Sector Check and your gender and date of birth matches that of a pardoned sex offender. In this case, fingerprints would be requested in order to rule out a match.
