On Sunday, October 15, 2023, shortly after 2:00 a.m., officers from the Barrie Police Service responded to a report of family dispute that had taken place at a motel located at Anne St. North and Donald St. in the city of Barrie.

Upon arrival at the scene, police were advised that the dispute had resolved itself after the occupants refused to allow a male who had been knocking at the door entry to the room. While investigating this occurrence, police observed what appeared to be a number of catalytic converters which were later determined to have been stolen.

Three males, a 21-year-old from Essa, and a 31 and 35-year-old from Barrie who were in the motel room were arrested and transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where the investigation continued.

All three males were charged with Possession of Stolen Property over $5000 and Possession of Break in Instrument. The 31-year-old male was also charged with Fail to Comply – Undertaking, while the other two males were charged with Fail to Comply with Probation. All three were held in custody for Bail Hearings that took place by video yesterday.

A fourth person in the room, a 27-year-old female of no fixed address, provided false identification and managed to elude being arrested. A warrant of arrest is being sought for her and her involvement in regard to the stolen catalytic converters.
